Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential - Romania - Wildlife Tracking and Conservation 2027

Head to the awe-inspiring Carpathian Mountains. This project gives you an immersive, hands-on insight into wildlife monitoring, forest conservation and restoration, and wilderness survival. With plenty of time for hiking, tracking and foraging, this expedition is the perfect balance of education, adventure, and pure nature immersion.

Start Your Adventure

Camping under the open sky in the Făgăraș Mountains, exploring ancient beech forests, and encountering wild mountain goats provide unforgettable moments of awe and inspiration.

Track and Sign Track and Sign

Learn how to track wildlife. Understand the tracks and signs left behind by native species such as bison, brown bears, wolves, lynx, deer and more.

Wild Camping

Hike through the mountains and set up camp in the wild. Put the survival skills you’ve learnt to the test out in the wilderness.

Bison and Beavers

Learn all about the local wildlife, including the European bison which have been successfully brought back from the brink of extinction.

Data Collection

Collect data using camera traps, drones, eDNA and bioacoustic monitoring to paint an incredible picture of local biodiversity.
